Spring Movements

The first plants have arisen and the buds are opening.  The creeks have opened, the moose are on the highways and the night sounds have begun.  The last remnants of ice still cling to the shore of the big lake, most inland lakes are ice free while some seem to keep the ice on longer.
Still great sunsets over the horizon.

Rock Faces and Peregrine Falcons

Cruising by the cliffs of Michipicoten you have to have an open mind to see the rock faces.
The Peregrine Falcons are back and have found their nesting site on the cliffs.

Returning Birds

The geese and ducks and Merlin have returned north as well as Sandhill Cranes flying high overhead continuing north.  The robins and chickadees have started singing in earnest and I heard an Oriole calling this morning which I haven't heard up here before. The Ravens started gathering nesting materials a a week earlier.  There's still ice on the lakes and snow in the bush but spring is showing.
