The Big Lake lost it's ice the morning after it froze over. There won't be any ice fishing on Michipicoten Bay this year.  Michipicoten River didn't come close to freezing this year.

The rock faces have beards of ice along the north shore of Sandy Beach.

Frozen Lake Superior

The big lake finally froze over last night after 30 below.  About 3 inches thick and good enough to drill a couple holes to look for some fish.

The Lake has been icing over the last week or so but every time the wind picks up the ice breaks up and with a strong west wind last night pushed the ice up into hills along the shore.
