Flowing Water

The remaining vestiges of ice on Lake Superior are covered in mist slowly melting while the snowpack in the bush is mostly gone flowing into the creeks and rivers opening up the waterfalls flowing into the lake.

Ravens and Gulls

Gulls and Ravens love fresh fish guts to supplement their diet of garbage dump goodies.  The eagles are soaring and the songbirds are staking out their territories in this late spring.

Lake Superior Ice Fishing

After Walking 2 kms out onto Lake Superior at Old Woman Bay we found a spot where we could pull fish out of the ice.  A day of sun melted lots of ice during the day but still about 3 feet left to walk on.

Back to the Wind

A strong west wind kept us with our backs to the wind while getting in the last of the icefishing before the snow gets too mushy.  With the rain yesterday there is a layer of water on the ice under a foot of snow.  The ice is still about 3 feet thick in the interior lakes.
